6 editions published between 2002 and 2006 in English and held by 289 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Antoni Gaudi is celebrated as one of the most important architects of the early 20th century. His unbelievable Art Nouveau buildings were marked by their whimsical design and fantastic details. While much has been written on this extraordinary figure, Living Gaudi is one of the few books to consider his gardens, parks and residential projects as a body of work, and one of the few to particularly focus on his designs for interior furnishings, which were part and parcel of his overall vision for a building. This little known aspect of his work is surveyed in this book with stunning photography and exquisite detail. The volume also includes a selection of the architect’s own writings, which give the reader a revealing look at his incomparable genius. Complete with archival photographs and more than 150 full-color contemporary photographs, Gaudi’s amazing talent is revealed in this landmark work Modernismo : architecture and design in Catalonia( Book )

8 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 269 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Catalan modernismo, a cultural and artistic style of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, was the Spanish equivalent of the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau, the German Werkbund and the Viennese Secession. The common denominator of these movements was the ambition to develop a new concept of beauty based on the creative essence of humankind. This comprehensive study, containing a wealth of information not previously available in English, focuses on all aspects of modernismo. Insightful essays discuss the geographic focus of modernismo, Catalonia and its vibrant capital city, Barcelona, and its historical and social context. Architecture was greatly influenced by modernismo, and various practitioners — Antoni Gaudí, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Josep Puig i Cadafalch — developed personal styles based on patterns inspired by nature. Painting, sculpture, and music were equally affected by the times, moving away from academicism and toward spontaneous and personal creative impulses. All essays are extensively illustrated with spectacular color photographs, showing modernismo’s most important buildings, such as Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia and Palau Güell; intricate furniture, stained glass, and jewelry; graphic design, notably periodicals and sheet music; and a portfolio of paintings Gaudi : l’homme et son oeuvre by Marc Llimargas( Book )
